Basic Folder Operations
Introduction
Folders help you organize related test assets, making them easier to manage. You can create a folder at the root level or as a subfolder within existing folders. You can perform folder operations like copy, move, archive, or delete as needed. This enables bulk actions on the assets within.
You can also share folder links across different communication channels. Team members with the access rights can access the folder and its assets.
Understanding Folder Asset Count
The system displays the total count of assets, including both active and archived, next to each folder. Let’s understand this with an example:
Consider the following folder hierarchy:
Folder A → Folder B → Folder C
If:
Folder A contains 5 assets
Folder B contains 3 assets
Folder C contains 2 assets
Then, the folder view will display:
Folder A (10) – Parent folder
Folder B (5) – Child folder
Folder C (2) – Subfolder of Folder B
The count for each folder includes assets within that folder and all of its subfolders.
Creating a New Folder
You can create folders and sub-folders within the Requirement, Test Case, or Test Suite modules.
To create a new folder, perform the following steps:
Navigate to the specific module (Requirement, Test Case, or Test Suite).
Select the parent folder. By default, the root folder is selected.
Click the parent folder.
Click New Folder.
Enter the folder name and folder description.
Click Create.
You can see the newly created folder in the folder list.
All About Folder Descriptions
You can add descriptions to folders highlighting the purpose and usage of the folders.
Notes
Folder descriptions support large text and rich text formatting.
Go to Project Settings and turn on the Enable rich text editor option.
Folder descriptions cannot be added to the root folder.
Editing an Existing Folder Name
You can rename an existing folder at any time.
To edit an existing folder name, perform the following steps:
Select the folder.
Click the Edit icon on the toolbar.
Edit the folder name and click on Update.
Viewing Folder Details
You can view details of both archived and unarchived folders by right clicking the folder name and selecting the View Folder Details option.
Copying Folder Link
You can generate a direct link to any folder in the test repository and share it for quick access. There are two approaches.
A. Right-click on the Folder to Copy the Folder Link
Right-click on the folder to copy.
Select the Copy Folder Link option.
B. Copy the Folder Link from Breadcrumb Navigation
Go to the breadcrumb navigation in the module details page.
Hover over the folder name and click the Copy icon.
The folder link is copied to the clipboard. You can share this link using email or messaging apps. Users with necessary permissions can view all the assets listed in the folder.
Notes
Users without the necessary permissions will see an error message: "You do not have sufficient permissions to view this folder."
If the folder has been deleted, renamed, or moved, users will see: "The folder no longer exists or has been moved."
The link only navigates to the folder location and expanded hierarchy; applied filters are not retained.
Navigating Folders
You can browse through folders, view their contents, and navigate between the folders in a project using different navigation options.
Module Grid View
Use the expandable menu to navigate the project's folder structure. This menu displays the complete folder hierarchy, including subfolders and archived folders, all organized in a tree structure for easy access.
Module Details Page
Navigate through folders using the breadcrumb navigation at the top. Each folder in the breadcrumb is interactive. Clicking on a folder name takes you to that folder.
Right-Click Menu for Folder Operations
You can perform various folder operations by right-clicking on a folder name in the folder tree.

For folders created through import or automation, the folder description must be entered manually.
Folder descriptions cannot be imported or exported.
The root folder cannot be deleted.
Deleting a folder will remove all subfolders and entities within it.
The status of the parent folder will be updated across all scopes.
You can bulk archive multiple folders through Bulk operations.
Archiving a Folder
Only users with ‘modify’ asset permissions can archive or unarchive assets and asset folders.
You can archive an entire folder to hide all its test assets, sub-folders, and their contents. Archiving a folder also hides it for the associated release and cycle.
