Importing Issues from Excel File
Introduction
Import bulk issues into QMetry in the same order as in the Excel file. You can also import Excel files with multiple sheets at once.
If Jira is integrated with QMetry, the Issues module in QMetry becomes unavailable. To sync issues from Jira, refer to Sync Requirements and Issues from Jira.
Notes
The Excel file must not exceed 10 MB.
Use the official import template to ensure your data is correctly formatted.
All sheets must follow the same structure and column names if importing from multiple sheets.

Importing Issues from Excel
To import issues from Excel, format the source data as per system requirements. Use the template below to structure your data correctly.
To import issues from Excel, perform the following steps:
Go to the Issues module.
Click the cog icon and select Import.
It opens QMetry Import wizard showing the following three stages of import:
Upload Source File
Map Fields
Save Mapping
Step 1: Upload Source File
Browse the file and upload it to import. Select at least one sheet of the Excel file and click Next.
Note
If you receive an “Invalid file” message while uploading the file, then open the file in Microsoft Excel and save the file as type “Excel Workbook” with a different name.
The file name appears near to the Choose File button.
Select XLS Sheet: All sheets in the Excel file appear in the drop-down list. Select one or more sheets that contain the issues to be imported. At least one sheet must be selected to proceed.
Importing Multiple Sheets: While importing multiple sheets, the system uses the field columns from the first sheet for field mapping. Ensure all sheets have the same column names and format.
Header Row: Enter the row number to set it as the header row. QMetry imports all rows below this header. The same header row applies to all selected sheets.
Click Next.
Step 2: Mapping the Fields
Fields from the Excel file appear under Sheet Field, and QMetry fields appear under QMetry Field.
Map each Excel field to its corresponding QMetry field. Mandatory fields are highlighted in red.
Import with Warning: Select this to import requirements with a Summary longer than 255 characters. The system automatically truncates the Summary to 255 characters. If the checkbox is not selected, the import will fail if any requirement exceeds the character limit.
Click Finish to complete the Import wizard and start the import process.
Removing mapping between fields
To remove a specific field mapping, open QMetry Field and select the Select QMetry Field option.
Step 3: Save Mapping
Save the field mapping to reuse it during future re-imports with the same format.
Click the Save Map, enter a name for the map, and save it. You can use the saved map for future imports.
To reuse the mapping, select the saved map name. The system automatically applies the same field mapping.
Additional Mapping Options
Auto Map: Map the system and custom fields automatically by using keywords in the header names.
All Mappings: The drop-down lists out all the mappings saved by logged-in user while importing test cases. If a map name is selected, it indicates the mapping currently in use.
Click Next to proceed.
You can track the import progress in the notification window on the application header. Refer to Notification Window for Import Progress for more details.
